What is it like to be a twin?
Tate Chapman – MODG News and Abby Chapman – MODG News are MODG News staff. In the above photo, Tate is in blue and Abby is in red.
Are you identical or fraternal?
“We are identical.”
Do people get you mixed up? If they do, is it funny or annoying?
“Yes, people get us mixed up all the time! Even my parents can get us mixed up sometimes! When we were born my parents had to put different colored nail polish on one of our toes to tell us apart. I think it is hilarious when people get us mixed up.” – Abby
“We get mixed up all the time! Honestly, it has never bothered me or Abby. Once you get to know us it’s pretty easy to tell each one of us apart.” – Tate
What is the best part about being a twin?
“The best part about being a twin is that I will always have a best friend, and she is someone who I can always count on.” – Abby
“The best part about being a twin is having a built-in best friend for life! You never feel alone because you have someone you can talk to about anything. Another fun thing about being a twin is we can trick people and switch places!” – Tate
Is there anything about being a twin that is just annoying?
“Surprisingly no! I love being a twin and I couldn’t imagine not having a twin sister. Being a twin is just so much fun!” – Abby
“I love being a twin! I personally don’t find anything annoying about it because Abby and I have a really special bond.” – Tate
Anna and Olivia are twins!
In this photo, Anna is on the left and Olivia is on the right.
Are you identical or fraternal?
“We are identical (girls).”
Do people get you mixed up? If they do, is it funny or annoying?
“YES!!! All the time. A little bit of both. At this point we both are used to answering to both names, which just makes people more confused.”
What is the best part about being a twin?
“Definitely having someone to do everything with. It’s nice to not worry about having someone to talk to or hangout with at events or when going to a new thing. It’s also a fun conversation starter, because people are always interested about what it’s like being a twin.”
Is there anything about being a twin that is just annoying?
“Just like anything else in life, being a twin has pros and cons. One of the most frustrating things is always having to tell people which twin you are, or when people assume you are “basically the same person” (ie. same hobbies, personalities, and interests) Which, by the way, is not true! We have similarities: both love Marvel, hate olives, love photography, despise Shakespeare, love skiing, and we look like clone copies of each other, duh; but we definitely have our differences. For example, Anna likes singing and Olivia…well… can’t sing, Olivia likes her hair long while Anna can’t resist a haircut, Olivia likes word art and Anna loves cats, Olivia enjoys baking and Anna *coughs* likes pretending she can bake, and so many other things!!! Funny enough, the things that normally come to mind as annoying aspects of ‘twinhood’, like sharing the same birthday, are actually really fun (We have the biggest birthday parties…ever…xD xD).”
Ben and Tim are twins!
Are you identical or fraternal?
“I’m a fraternal twin. However, that doesn’t stop people from confusing me with my brother.” – Ben
“Fraternal.” – Tim
Do people get you mixed up? If they do, is it funny or annoying?
“Generally, it’s just kinda funny. Sometimes it can get annoying, but I generally don’t get too annoyed with people.” – Ben
“Yep. People get us mixed up all the time. Even our friends and cousins sometimes get us mixed up ” – Tim
What is the best part about being a twin?
“Ummm…I guess just having someone to do all the same activities as you so you always have a friend there.” – Ben
“Prolly that you always have someone your age around you.” – Tim
Is there anything about being a twin that is just annoying?
“YES. Sometimes, it’s actually really annoying that your brother does all the same activities as you do. It can almost feel like your little brother is tagging along (because he is. I’m older…by a whole six minutes.).” – Ben
“Yeah, it’s really annoying that people think that you can read each other’s minds or something. We can’t.” – Tim
John and LilyRuth are twins!
Here’s what LilyRuth said about being a twin:
Are you identical or fraternal?
“We are fraternal twins!”
Do people get you mixed up? If they do, is it funny or annoying?
“Since we’re fraternal, people don’t really get us mixed up. They are more frequently surprised to learn that we are twins, and that is always really fun. My brother and I have been working at the same place for about a year now and some of my co-workers just recently found out that we are twins, which was hilarious.”
What is the best part about being a twin?
“The best part about being a twin is having someone so close to you. My brother and I have always had a special twin bond. I love having someone to do everything with. In fact, I’m so used to saying ‘our birthday, our class,’ and ‘we are 18, we’re seniors,’ that I catch myself saying ‘we’ when an ‘I’ would really make more sense! It’s nice to have someone who is exactly where I am, going through the exact same things, since we can really understand each other. We also complement each other really well with our very different personalities! I’m not looking forward to John going to college hours and hours away from me…It’ll be sad not doing the same things together.”
Is there anything about being a twin that is just annoying?
“There are definitely challenges to being a twin. Doing everything together is awesome, but it does mean I’ve been struggling for hours with math while John glides through it no problem! We’ve also applied for all the same scholarships, and we work at the same place, so it can be hard when one of us gets a promotion or a scholarship and the other doesn’t. It’s so easy to compare and think you’re not as good as your twin, but it’s good to remember that your twin always has the same struggle. And, seeing your twin excel where you are struggling also really makes you grow in charity and magnanimity, to where you can rejoice in his successes even if you feel like you failed. So that can be annoying, but it’s ultimately really good!
“And I couldn’t write a post about being a twin without saying this: I am a whole 17 minutes older than John, so he is definitely my younger brother (and yes he hates it when I call him my younger brother, and yes that means I’ll keep doing it xP).”
Claire and Gregory are twins!
Are you identical or fraternal?
“Fraternal.”
Do people get you mixed up? If they do, is it funny or annoying?
“No, my twin is a girl, no chance of that.” – Gregory
“No, people do not get me mixed up. They think my twin (Gregory) is twin to my younger brother.” – Claire
What is the best part about being a twin?
“Always having someone who is doing the same work I am. However I talk more with my brother William then my twin” – Gregory
“The best part is having someone to talk to your own age wherever you are.” – Claire
Is there anything about being a twin that is just annoying?
“No.”
Rachel and Sara are twins!
In this photo, Rachel is in green and Sara in blue.
Are you identical or fraternal?
“I’m identical ;)” – Sara
“Identical!! (We look like super super similar)” – Rachel
Do people get you mixed up? If they do, is it funny or annoying?
“Honestly, I’ve gotten so used to it it doesn’t even register sometimes. Like, I respond to both Sara and Rachel because so many people get us mixed up all the time. Of course, this just adds to the confusion lol. But yeah, I mean it can definitely get annoying sometimes, but I’m so used to it I don’t even care anymore haha.” – Sara
“Yes, literally 24/7. At this point I’m seriously so used to it it doesn’t bother me, and our close friends know who we are.” – Rachel
What is the best part about being a twin?
“You have a guaranteed best friend, you get to tell them EVERYTHING and when I mean everything…I mean it’s basically like talking to yourself except in a different human’s body. Also, you can trust your twin with literally everything, there’s NEVER a dull moment when they’re around, and they just understand stuff so much better than anyone else. I mean Rachel is (literally) my other half haha.” – Sara
“She is my BEST friend. I can tell her literally everything and I know she won’t tell anyone else. When I talk with her I feel like I’m talking with my own brain XD” – Rachel
Is there anything about being a twin that is just annoying?
“ ‘Double trouble’ ‘Do you guys fight?’ ‘Is it annoying having the same birthday?’ ‘You look SO much alike!!!’ ‘It’s so hard to tell the difference between you two!’ All of that stuff irritates me soo much lol. Like no, we aren’t bad kids. Second, of course we get into arguments sometimes. I mean it’s actually not that often, but we are human so we definitely do. Also, it’s like ‘WOW!! I NEVER noticed we look alike!’ Like c’mon, I know that lol. Also, just for the record, I have never once wished I had my own birthday. Like it’s wayy more fun having someone else to party with and I love sharing my birthday!” – Sara
“No. Absolutely nothing. You get a cool/amazing clone who’s your literal bestie and there’s no catches whatsoever! (This sounds sarcastic but I’m 100% serious!!)” – Rachel
