MODG News is hosting a Christmas-themed story writing contest for all grade levels.  We are excited to see what you all come up with!

For the prompt of the short story contest, we will be using the cover painting of this article.

You will write a short story from the perspective of the characters in the painting (cow, donkey, sheep, shepherd, or Mary).

Prompts:

5th grade and under: Write a story from an animal’s point of view.

6th-8th grade: Mary stumbled up to the third door, watching as Joseph knocked. “Please, sir,” he said, “we have nowhere else to go.” (From Mary’s POV)

9th-12th grade: “What is that up in the sky?” one of the shepherds cried out.  They watched in amazement and fear as a light filled the sky. (from a shepherd’s POV)

Lastly, please submit your completed story to “Submit Your Idea” on our website navigation bar by January 8, 2024.
