The fires in California have been so devastating. They have killed many people and destroyed so many more people’s homes and businesses. The reason for these fires continuing to grow, leaving a path of total destruction in their behind them, is because of the terrible governance of our state’s leaders. They have done barely anything to try and stop the fires from continuing to multiply and plow through neighborhood after neighborhood, destroying just about everything in their way. Not only that, but they also intentionally hindered fire prevention and preparedness through their negligence.
There are two large fires right now and many smaller fires that keep starting up day after day. It is taking far too long to contain them. The biggest fire, which is measuring at over 23,000 acres, has been burning for weeks and is still not nearly contained. It is continuing to burn through many neighborhoods, and it is horrifying seeing what is coming about from this. It is absolutely insane to think that if our state’s leaders had helped to prevent these fires, they would not have been harming the lives of so many families.
People have lost billions of dollars’ worth of homes, food, clothes, and many other things. These poor families would not have lost all their belongings, if our state’s leaders had been responsible. If they had done what needed to be done to stop the fires from starting in the first place and then from continuing to grow, much of California would not be completely burnt to ashes right now. In President Donald J. Trump’s inauguration speech, he stated that he was going to stop these fires from continuing to burn. This is how we need our state leaders to be talking.
