1. How did you first get into arts and crafts? Was there a specific moment or project that sparked your interest?
a. I always remember wanting to do some form of art or crafts when I was little. I think watching my mom do anything crafty always made me want to do arts and crafts more.
2. What are some arts and crafts that you do? What’s your favorite of these, why?
a. Some arts and crafts I do are painting, a little drawing, making rosaries, pastels, jewelry making, making friendship bracelets, embroidery, and cross stitching. I honestly don’t have a favorite one. I just love doing all of these arts and crafts so much.
3. Where do you find inspiration for your projects?
a. I find inspiration in the things and people around me. Often I will see someone’s jewelry, or read a book, or I’ll just look out the window at something. I often find inspiration in my family members too.
4. What’s your creative process like when you start a new project?
a. I am a perfectionist. So, often it takes me multiple tries to make my project look the way I want it to, and sometimes I am unable to do this. But I usually finish the project, and it usually ends up looking better than I thought it would.
5. Do you have any favorite materials or art supplies that you always work with?
a. Honestly, whatever supplies I can get my hands on, often work for me, even if it is a junky paintbrush or some very tiny jewelry pliers. But I especially like using the jewelry pliers, when I am making all my jewelry. They are a very versatile tool that can be used by anybody.
6. What do you think is the most rewarding part of doing arts and crafts?
a. I think the most rewarding part of doing arts and crafts is that I get to share what I make with the people around me.
7. How do you balance your creative hobbies with your everyday life or work?
a. Most of the time I do arts and crafts late at night, when I need to take my mind off things and relax. I also do arts and crafts a lot on the weekends or during the school day, if I finish my homework early.
8. How do you stay motivated or inspired to keep creating when you face creative blocks?
a. Often when I feel like doing some art or a craft I can’t figure out what to do, so sometimes I ask my family members what they think I should do, or I just start something and see what happens.
9. What’s your favorite project that you’ve worked on, and why does it stand out to you?
a. I would say my favorite projects that I have done would be all the projects that have brought joy to the people closest to me.
10. What advice would you give to someone just starting out in arts and crafts?
a. To all you who are starting up different arts and crafts I will just say, stay patient with yourself, don’t give up, and have a lot of fun!!!
