Mother Teresa’s canonization has been approved! She is one of the most recognized names throughout the world, especially for her work with the sick, the dying and the unborn.  At age 17, Mother Teresa started her journey as a Sister of Loretto, and went on to found the Missionaries of Charity.

She spent most of her life living in Calcutta, India, where she helped the poorest of the poor, and cared for the sick and dying. She died on September 5th, 1997, and was beatified by St. Pope John Paul II, on October 19th, 2003. She will be canonized by Pope Francis at the Vatican on September 4th, 2016.

Mother Teresa will be sainted because of her second miracle, involving the complete cure of a man with a serious viral brain infection. Mother Teresa is a great example of how to be truly and humbly merciful in this Jubilee Year of Mercy!
