Severe Weather Warnings in Midwest and South
April 26, 2016
MODG 11th grader and VOX staffer Julia Fassero lives in Atchison, Kansas, which was under tornado watch earlier this week.
Julia’s father built a cement room where the family goes during a tornado. Julia said, “My dad built our house, so he built this into it. It has poured concrete walls. Dad describes it to people as ‘The shelter you go in when you see a tornado coming across the fields.'” Julia said they have to just watch for the tornadoes because there are no warning sirens in the countryside.
The National Weather Service is posts updates on storms around the country.

Wow! I have been under tornado watch a couple times and both times I didn’t have a tornado safe room to flee to. The tornados didn’t actually come, but it was still a scary experience.
I hope that everyone under tornado watch right now stays safe and well. I will keep you in my prayers!
